A Simple Meal with Love

My husband and I love to make fun of each other for the various random foods we find delicious and remember from our childhood. He claims my delicatessen was invented by a little old lady who maybe drank too much and threw together what she had in her fridge for the church social and it stuck. That amazing morsel was cinnamon swirl bread spread with Cheese Wiz and topped with green olives with pimentos. I LOVED this! Yes, it was one of the most random things but man was it good.

His claim to fame was a dish his mom made of canned tuna, on top of toast, with smashed canned peas, and topped with a slice of cheese; all of this broiled till perfection.

No matter how much we tease each other, we both know these two weird dishes had something in common; they were made with love and shared with others. Maybe it isn’t the food being great that jogs our memory, but instead the time spent with others at a table in community, a form of Sobremesa with 70's housewife specials.  A meal made with love will always taste better.

"A simple meal with love is better than a feast where there is hatred." Proverbs 15:17
