Eating in Stillness

How many times do you eat on the run; without awareness of the food that you just inhaled, not even remembering what you just ate? How many times have you closed your eyes as you ate and slowly savored the flavors and textures?

God designed us, as humans, to savor and enjoy food; he gave us taste buds and the sense of smell.

The next time you sit down to a meal I challenge you, take a slow bite, close your eyes, and truly taste and feel the food in your mouth. Slowly chewing and realizing that in that moment you are fueling your body.

Then when you open your eyes, if you are eating with others, truly see those people smile and be present and thank God for the moment. The moment of simplicity and surrender to that stillness.
