Contentment
In my mind contentment and gratitude are siblings. They both derive from being thankful in the moment.
Unfortunately, in our society, there are many enemies of these two states of mind. We are constantly bombarded with advertisements and billboards telling us we shouldn' be content and we should want more, want better. In Church Sunday they listed the 4 enemies of contentment: comparison, entitlement, perfectionism, and materialism.
If we are grateful and have a grateful heart it turns what we have into enough, turns our hearts and minds to being content.
We just finished up Thanksgiving and many of us, during that time, reflect on what we are grateful for, but what if we did that daily all year long; how would your life change? What if you fought off the enemies of contentment with the armor of God?
1 Timothy 6:6-9 says it best, "But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into the temptation and trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction."
Challenge yourselves to be content and grateful for today and the beautiful things it has to offer.
